About Canine Temperament

Because of breed-specific dog legislation and negative publicity associated with many breeds of dogs, temperament testing has assumed an important role for today’s dog fancier. The ATTS Temperament Test provides breeders a means for evaluating temperament and gives pet owners insight into their dog’s behavior. It can have an impact on breeding programs and in educating owners about their dog’s behavioral strengths and weaknesses as well as providing a positive influence on dog legislation.

What is temperament?

W. Handel, German Police Dog Trainer, in his article, “The Psychological Basis of Temperament Testing,” defines temperament as:

“the sum total of all inborn and acquired physical and mental traits and talents which determines, forms and regulates behavior in the environment”

The ATTS test focuses on and measures different aspects of temperament such as stability, shyness, aggressiveness, and friendliness as well as the dog’s instinct for protectiveness towards its handler and/or self-preservation in the face of a threat. The test is designed for the betterment of all breeds of dogs and takes into consideration each breed’s inherent tendencies.

The test simulates a casual walk through the park or neighborhood where everyday life situations are encountered. During this walk, the dog experiences visual, auditory and tactile stimuli. Neutral, friendly and threatening situations are encountered, calling into play the dog’s ability to distinguish between non-threatening situations and those calling for watchful and protective reactions.

About Us | Desert Harbor Doberman Rescue

Desert Harbor Doberman Rescue of Arizona (DHDR) is Arizona’s first and oldest 501(c)(3) nonprofit Doberman rescue organization. We are headquartered in central Phoenix and utilize foster homes, veterinary partners, and volunteers throughout the state. We are incorporated in Arizona.

As an IRS-certified nonprofit charity, we do not make or take a profit. We depend entirely on adoption fees and donations from people like you. Every dollar we receive is dedicated to rescue operations and to the care of the dogs. About 90% of all donations goes directly for veterinary care. The remainder goes for essentials that are not donated, and these we purchase second hand or at a discount whenever possible. Our staff and Board members are volunteers whose time, training, talents, and resources make it possible for us to exist.

Because we are a 501(c)(3),  donations to DHDR may qualify for tax deduction. See your tax adviser for details.

DHDR was founded in January 2009, in a hard economic recession, to save Dobermans from dying in the shelters. Founded by a member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, DHDR operated initially under the mentorship and auspices of Valley of the Sun Giant Schnauzer Rescue (VSGSR), one of the best 501(c)(3) purebred rescues in the Southwest.

Through VSGSR and the generous support of many veteran Doberman Pinscher rescue organizations nationwide, we learned standard best rescue practices from the best. We also adhere to the DPCA Rescue Code of Ethics as well as to usual and customary good business practices. These facts from our history explain why we operate as we do.

DHDR can function only because we have earned the support of numerous partners. We have over 35 committed volunteers who evaluate, rescue, foster, transport, exercise, care for, train, socialize, and love our dogs. Our growing statewide network of veterinary and foster partners allows us to serve the state yet minimize our transport and other operating costs. We also partner with other qualified rescues when a Doberman is in need but our foster homes are full. Last and definitely not least, our ever-growing family of adopters stands with us to recommend us, support us financially, and encourage us with one “happy tale” after another.

For more about us, see our Mission. And let us help you find your Doberman.

About us | Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity

We’re one of Yorkshire’s largest rescue charities.

BARC was formed in 1995, at a time when many rescue centres were still putting healthy animals to sleep. We were the first in our local area to stop this. Every year, since then we have changed the lives of thousands of abandoned animals.

We think it’s important to provide the best possible care for our animals. Our kennels, cattery and rabbit sanctuary are all run by animal welfare experts. We provide physical and mental rehabilitation until they are ready for their new home.

We take care to help new owners make the right decision when choosing a companion, one best suited to their lifestyle. Our team are always available to provide support and advice every step of the way. And will continue to do so throughout an animal’s life. This is our commitment to them and to you, we call it Infinity Care.

That’s what we think makes BARC special.

We are located in a pastoral setting on 3 acres in the country, just 20 minutes south of Portland,Oregon.  We have both lived in the Pacific Northwest our whole lives.

Our first Labradoodle purchase was in 2005, after falling for this lovable breed.   We had raised a yellow lab and loved her easy going, loyal nature.  Also, having been exposed to Poodles, we could see their incredibly smart and comical traits.  This has been the perfect combination for us!  We are constantly entertained and amazed with the athletic abilities and the extremely intelligent personalities of our Doodles.

Our goal is to breed high quality Australian Labradoodle puppies and to place them in loving forever homes making everyone involved in the process exceedingly happy.

We currently breed and raise Australian & American Multi-gen Labradoodles.

What IS a Labradoodle? What does F1, F1b, F2 mean???  Mulit-gen?  Click her to read more…….

Our puppies are raised in our home with our complete focus. They are loved and cared for from the moment they are born.  They are each sweet, joyful, smart, loving little souls that just want to please, play and snuggle. Labradoodles are very social!  They are also great with kids and are wonderful therapy & service dogs!

Before joining their new families, our puppies are well on their way to being potty trained, crate trained and have been well socialized with our other dogs and lots of people (both young and old).  They also have had their first set of vaccinations, Healthy Vet Check, microchipped and have been wormed as well as spayed & neutered.
